About Us

Honest, hands-on reviews from people who actually drink the coffee

Coffeemakerreview.net is a small, independent editorial shop covering coffee makers, grinders, and the craft that turns beans into a better cup.

What we do

We buy, use, and live with coffee gear — usually for months, sometimes for years — before we publish a review. Every rating on this site is based on real shots, real cups, real cleanup. We do not rewrite press releases, we do not republish manufacturer spec sheets, and we do not run sponsored reviews disguised as editorial.

We also publish The Journal: long-form essays on technique, processing, origins, and the broader specialty coffee industry. Some of it is opinion. All of it is written by humans who care about the subject.

How we test

  • Daily use, not bench tests. Every machine goes into a working kitchen for weeks. We pull hundreds of shots, brew hundreds of cups, and watch how the gear holds up.
  • Consistent beans. We rotate a set of benchmark coffees through every grinder and brewer so we can compare cup quality fairly across machines.
  • Real kitchens, real water. We test with the same filtered water most readers have access to, not idealized lab water.
  • Teardowns when useful. If serviceability, parts availability, or build quality are decisive for a product category, we open it up.

Editorial independence

Coffeemakerreview.net is funded entirely by display advertising. We do not run affiliate links, we do not take affiliate commissions from retailers, and we do not accept paid reviews, sponsored placements, or any other form of compensated editorial. No brand has ever paid — or ever will pay — for a rating, a ranking, or a mention on this site.

We also decline review units with strings attached. The gear we test is the gear that reached our kitchens the same way yours would: bought at retail, borrowed from a colleague, or loaned with zero conditions on what we write. If a product is bad, we say so. If a cheaper option beats a flagship, we say that too.

Who we are

Our team is made up of former baristas, roasters, and lifelong home-brew nerds who each bring a different lens to the same question: does this machine make coffee you actually want to drink? Between us we cover espresso gear, filter and pour-over technique, the science of extraction, and the origin, processing, and industry side of specialty coffee.

Individual writers are credited on every review and Journal article, so you always know whose palate and whose workflow shaped the piece you are reading.
