Super-automatics are a different category from capsules — you're buying fresh-grind workflow, not a tray of pods — and the ENA 4 is the lowest rung on Jura's ladder. Single spout, seven preset drinks (espresso, ristretto, coffee, two American sizes, hot water, and a couple of variants), Pulse Extraction Process for shorter shots, the Aroma G3 ceramic burr grinder. There's no milk system, which is the catch. If you mostly drink black coffee and espresso from fresh whole beans, the ENA 4 is the best $1,500 you can spend on a single-serve. If you want lattes, skip up to the ENA 8.

What we liked and didn't

Pros

  • Fresh-grind from whole beans changes the cup quality completely
  • Pulse Extraction Process tightens up short shots
  • Genuinely compact for a super-automatic

Cons

  • No milk system at all
  • Black-coffee drinkers only at this tier
