The Creatista Plus is the most surprising machine in the Nespresso lineup. Built by Breville, it bolts a real automatic steam wand onto the Original-line capsule platform, with eight milk-texture settings and eleven temperature settings, all controlled from a small screen. The wand purges, foams, and shuts off automatically when the milk hits target temperature. The result is microfoam genuinely good enough to free-pour basic latte art — from a pod machine. Add the 3-second heat-up and the brushed stainless body and it's the only capsule machine that legitimately competes with mid-tier semi-automatic espresso for the cappuccino-and-latte buyer.

What we liked and didn't

Pros

  • Real automatic steam wand produces microfoam
  • Eight texture and eleven temperature settings
  • Three-second heat-up via thermojet boiler
  • Premium stainless-steel build

Cons

  • $500 is a lot of capsule machine
  • Steam wand needs cleaning after every drink
